A business phone system where the extension follows the person.
A full IP PBX for the business, whether your people sit in one building, five branches or at home. Extensions follow the user rather than the desk, and voicemail arrives as an email with a transcript and a summary.
What moving the PBX off-premise actually changes
A traditional PBX is a box wired to desks. It works until the business changes shape — a new branch, a team at home, a move — and each change becomes a procurement exercise.
A cloud PBX replaces the box with a service. An extension stops being a socket on a wall and becomes an identity that follows the person to whichever device they are at.
Core telephony
Unlimited internal calling
Branch to branch and desk to mobile over your own network, without per-minute cost between your own sites.
Presence and hunt groups
Ring teams in order, in parallel, or by who is actually free, with presence visible across branches.
Auto-attendant
Menu-driven answering with time-of-day and holiday routing, so out-of-hours callers reach the right destination.
Voicemail transcripts
Voicemail is delivered to email as text, with a summary and detected intent, so nobody dials a mailbox to find out what changed.
Softphone and desk phone
Browser, Windows, iOS, Android and standard SIP handsets, all bound to the same extension.
Least-cost routing
Each destination is routed down the cheapest trunk available to it, without the user choosing anything.
Recording and retention
Per-extension recording policy, encrypted storage and an exportable audit trail.
Transfers and conferencing
Attended and blind transfer, hold, park and multi-party conferencing across every branch.
Deployment options
The same console, routing and AI behave identically in all three. The choice is about where call media and recordings are allowed to live, not about which features you get.
Cloud
Hosted by RemotIQ with redundant media nodes and per-tenant isolation. Nothing to rack, and capacity changes are a configuration change.
On-premise
Runs in your own data centre for cases where recordings or call media may not leave the building. You keep the hardware responsibility.
Hybrid
Media stays local while the control plane and AI processing run in the cloud.
Carrier neutral
Bring your own SIP trunks or buy numbers and minutes from us. The PBX does not care which, and least-cost routing works across both.
Voicemail transcription is the underrated part
Voicemail is the least-loved part of any phone system because retrieving it is slow. Someone dials in, authenticates, and listens in order at the speed the caller spoke.
Transcription inverts that. The message arrives as scannable text with a summary and detected intent. A supplier changing a delivery date is visible in three seconds.

One platform, not a phone system plus a contact centre
The PBX shares identity, routing and reporting with the outbound engine and inbound campaigns. Adding a dialer later is switching on a module, not integrating a second vendor.
Cloud PBX questions
What is the difference between a cloud PBX and a hosted PBX?
In practice the terms are used interchangeably: both mean the call-control system runs as a service rather than as hardware on your premises. Where people draw a distinction, 'hosted' sometimes implies a single-tenant instance run for you and 'cloud' implies shared multi-tenant infrastructure.
Do we have to replace our desk phones?
No. Standard SIP handsets register against the platform alongside the browser, desktop and mobile softphones.
Can we keep our existing phone numbers and trunks?
Yes. Firetone is carrier neutral: bring your own SIP trunks and keep your existing numbering, or buy numbers and minutes from us, or run both and let least-cost routing choose per destination.
What happens to calls if our internet connection fails?
This is the real trade-off of moving call control off-premise, and it is worth planning for rather than assuming away. Inbound calls can be configured to fail over to alternative destinations such as mobile numbers, and hybrid deployment keeps media local so on-site calling survives a WAN outage.
