Feature

Send one message to a million numbers, and hear what came back.

Voice broadcasting pushes a recorded or synthesised message to a contact list at whatever scale your trunks allow, captures keypress responses, and retries the numbers that did not answer.

Broadcasting is the cheapest way to reach a list by voice

A broadcast occupies no agent. The platform dials, waits for an answer, plays audio, captures a keypress and hangs up. Cost scales with trunk time, not headcount.

That only holds if the reporting is honest. Firetone classifies every broadcast call the way it classifies a dialer call, and returns unanswered numbers for retry.

What a broadcast campaign can do

Recorded or synthesised audio

Upload your own recording, or generate the message from text when the content changes too often to re-record.

Keypress response capture

Offer the listener options — confirm, reschedule, opt out, speak to an agent — and record the response against the contact.

Transfer to an agent

A keypress can hand the live call straight into an inbound queue with the campaign context already attached.

Answering-machine detection

Detect a recorded greeting and either leave the message or skip, depending on what the campaign is for.

Retry logic

Unanswered numbers are re-queued on a schedule, re-ordered by the best-time-to-call model rather than a fixed interval.

Suppression at dial time

DNC lists and consent state are checked as each call is placed, not when the list was uploaded.

Running a broadcast

01

Build the message

Record the audio or write the text to be synthesised. Where the message contains per-contact detail, the variable parts are substituted at call time.

02

Define the response options

Decide what a keypress means: a confirmation, an opt-out, a callback request, or a transfer into a live queue.

03

Set pacing and window

Choose how much trunk capacity the campaign may consume and the hours it is allowed to dial in.

04

Run and watch

Connection rates, keypress distribution and opt-outs report live.

Consent is the whole game

Automated voice messaging is heavily regulated. The rules differ by jurisdiction, and by whether a call is transactional or promotional.

Firetone supplies the mechanisms: dial-time suppression, consent recorded per call, per-campaign dialing windows, keypress opt-out. Which regime applies to your list is yours to determine.

Included with voice broadcasting

  • Recorded audio upload and text-to-speech generation
  • Per-contact variable substitution in the message
  • Keypress response capture with configurable options
  • Live transfer into an inbound queue on keypress
  • Answering-machine detection with message drop
  • Retry scheduling driven by best-time-to-call

Broadcasts share the platform, not just the brand

A broadcast campaign uses the same trunks, the same suppression lists, the same recording and retention policy and the same reporting as your dialer and inbound queues. There is no separate system to reconcile and no second contact list to keep in step.

That also means capacity is shared. Per-campaign trunk allocation exists so a large broadcast cannot starve the inbound queues your customers are calling into.

Voice broadcasting questions

How many calls can a broadcast place at once?

Concurrency is bounded by your trunk capacity rather than by a platform-imposed cap, so a broadcast scales with the channels available to it. You can also allocate a campaign a fraction of that capacity, which is the usual configuration: it lets a large outbound run proceed without consuming the channels your inbound queues need.

Can the message include details specific to each contact?

Yes. Variable parts of the message are substituted at call time from the contact record, so a reminder can carry a date, a reference number or an amount without a separate recording per contact.

What is keypress capture used for?

It turns a one-way message into a response channel. Common uses are confirming or rescheduling an appointment, acknowledging a notification, requesting a callback, or opting out.

How do opt-outs work?

An opt-out applies immediately to the contact's consent state. Because suppression runs at dial time, they are excluded from every later campaign — including lists uploaded before the opt-out.
